Everyone is aware of the fact that the primary purpose of a student is actually reading, writing and studying to attain excellence in examinations. In a bid to fulfil this mandate, many students have defaulted on taking good care of their health. This has brought a lot of repercussions that result in reduced productivity even in their studies. The issue of living healthy is of paramount concern, especially during these covid times when students have to learn beyond the four walls of the classroom and as a result have to take initiative to live a balanced life to avoid unnecessary stress and pressure.

This article will be addressing ways by which students can take on a healthy lifestyle while pursuing a degree certificate in the University.

  • Understand Self Care: Every change in health lifestyle begins with your mindset. If you believe that the rigorous and bulky educational system in this part of the world will stop you from been devoted to self-care, then you’re part of the fault. Learn to keep a close eye on taking care of yourself especially in terms of feeding and adequate rest. Self Care entails paying attention to your well-being in such a way that you don’t have to feel guilty or lazy. When you pay attention to this fact in a reasonable way, you’ll be happier for it.

• Avoid Junks or Fast Foods: Many students in a bid to quench hunger fast and save some time, resort to feeding constantly on junks and fast food such as fatty snacks, carbonated drinks and excess noodles. However, these junks have little or no nutritional value and even put students at risks of contracting certain health complications in the long run. Instead of junky and fast feeds, treat yourself to wholesome meals and a balanced diet containing quality nutrients. For instance, boiled yam with scrambled eggs and milk for breakfast will do your body a lot of good than your regular biscuits, doughnut and soft drinks. Reduce or eliminate junky foods from your diet and replace them with fresh fruits and veggies.

• Inculcate Personal Hygiene: Make sure you live and study in a clean environment. Asides from the fact that it helps to prevent infections and contamination, it also boosts your mood to get to work. Don’t relax on your personal hygiene just because you’re home all day and will scarcely be meeting any of your friends and mates physically like it used to be before the advent of Covid. Ensure you brush your teeth regularly, shave and take your bath at least twice a day. Don’t underestimate the power of an adequate shower, it not only keeps you clean but it helps to refreshen your brain and cool you down.

Moreover, ensure you’re devoted to observing the Covid 19 protocols. Make sure you wash your hands, preferably with liquid soap and under running water for at least twenty to thirty seconds. Also, maintain social distance and wear a mask or a face shield in public places. This way, you’re working towards been safe from the spread of the global ravaging pandemic.

• Take Adequate Rest and Sleep: Ensure your study schedule gives allowance for adequate rest. Don’t work up yourself all hours in a stretch. Take short breaks during study sessions and unwind. Make sure you sleep well at night and feel comfortable in your space. This way, you should have an increased level of assimilation and be more productive. If you don’t have adequate rest and sleep as a student, there’s every likelihood that you might break down in the process and be less productive.

• Avoid Worry and Anxiety: Worry and Anxiety is a major reason students health fail. Sometimes, this could even lead to higher levels of depression, mental and psychological breakdown. Make it a habit never to worry about what the future holds. You can plan for the future but never worry about it. Ensure to do your bit and best, while leaving the rest for your creator to handle. Never entertain fear and always surround yourself with people who have a positive mindset and encourage you to keep at your game.

With all these tips above, we can boldly say cheers to a healthy lifestyle this session!
