Editorial 3: Back to normal school life struggles.

It is officially the fifth week of the 2020/2021 semester and it looks like UI students are finally adjusted to the new mode of learning. The LMS, the Moodle app, Uirms, etc every app or site put in place for virtual learning has been working fine so far. After successfully attacking the problems facing virtual learning, it is now time to face the problems normally faced in a typical new session; course registration, payment of dues, switching from old executives to new ones etc.

Queen Idia hall finally had her handover on the 15th of March 2021. The event was well attended by important Queen Idia Hall officers, the last sessions Idia executive council and the incoming executive council. The press hopes the new executive council keeps to all the promises they made during the last manifesto night and they have enough wisdom to work with the current restrictions posed by the coronavirus.
Returning students now have the chance to pay their fees and register for courses. It is best to be careful while registering for courses as any mistake made, might not be easily corrected due to the registration being online only. The acting VC, Professor Babatunde Ekanola has also said he expects no student to be on campus, so coming to the university campus to make corrections that can be avoided by being careful can put you in trouble with the management.
Faculties and halls’ executive councils have started giving students the go-ahead for students to start paying their dues. The student union has stepped in as the balm to soothe fresh students’ financial aches and has declared no hall, faculty or department should have an amount more than #2500 as the basic dues and that should be the only compulsory segment of the dues for all students including freshers. This will cause a big reduction in the expenses for a typical fresher this session.
Remember that no student is to be on campus so take care to limit the frequency at which you need to take care of your matters at the university campus. Welcome to the fifth week, from Queen Idia Press.
